What is arthritis?

Arthritis is a word used to describe an informal way of referring to a joint disease or joint pain.   • Infectious arthritis– This type of arthritis is caused by a bacteria, fungus or a virus that enters in the joint and cause inflammation. However, it is cleared by antibiotics but in some cases it also becomes chronic.

  • Joint replacement- a surgery can be done to replace your joint with a plastic or metal version. This will help to improve the function of your joints.
  • Osteotomy– in this treatment, a part of your joint is removed to improve joint stability and alignment. This can help to delay the joint replacement for several years.
  • Joint fusion- in this surgery, a joint is completely removed from the ends of two bones and are held together with pins, plates or screws.
  • Medicines– several antibiotics can help to remove the pain in joints. However, it is dependent on the types of arthritis whether to follow this treatment or not.
